Kybella®
What is Kybella®?
Kybella® is the first FDA-approved injection used to contour and improve the appearance of submental fullness or “double chin.” Kybella® eliminates fat cells under the chin without damaging the surrounding cells. Kybella® injections are identical to a chemical that is naturally produced in the body called deoxycholic acid, which helps absorb fat. The treatment breaks down the fat cells, which are then absorbed by the body and naturally eliminated through the lymphatic system.

What can I expect during treatment?
During treatment sessions, Dr. Hyder will inject Kybella® into the fat below the chin. Patients can receive up to 50 injections in one single treatment. Patients may feel some discomfort during treatment. Following treatment, they may feel slight pain and experience temporary swelling, bruising or numbness in the area treated. All of these symptoms can be treated with some over-the-counter pain relievers. Some patients achieve their desired results after just 1-2 treatments but most achieve optimum results with 4-6 treatments. The procedure itself is done in-office and takes between 15-20 minutes, depending on the number of injections.
How long do Kybella® results last?
Once the fat cells are destroyed, they never reproduce so once a patient achieves their desired results, no additional treatments will be necessary. If a patient gains weight after undergoing Kybella® treatment, the fat will not accumulate underneath the chin but will accumulate somewhere else in the body. Kybella® delivers striking results, dramatically improving the chin’s profile. Many patients feel that the treatments leave them with healthier, younger-looking skin.
